The silver in these hand-crafted pieces came from one of of the silver ingots, (or bars) recovered in 1985 by Mel Fisher and his divers. This silver has not been refined, but it is a very pure form. The silver is from ingot number 393, found at the wreck site of the most famous shipwreck treasure find of all time. Found in 1985 by Mel Fisher after seventeen years of searching, the Atocha remains to this day the greatest treasure ever found in terms of quantity. The ship sank near Key West in a hurricane in 1622. The Religious Medallions in this collection are made from Atocha silver, and are "true to the times" re-creations of the thousands of religious medallions on board Spanish vessel El Buen Consejo, wrecked off the coast of the Caribbean island of Anguilla.

This collection is truly a meeting of shipwrecks and a marriage of treasure, never to be re-produced again.
