Description: Reverse: Crowned shield flanked by R 2. Legend reads -"FRD*VI*D.G.*HISP*ET IND*R". Obverse: Crowned globe flanked by Crowned pillars with banner, date below - 1754. Legend reads VTRA QUE VNUM.

History: The El Cazador departed Vera Cruz for New Orleans on the 11th of January, 1784, carrying 450,000 pieces of Pesos, never to be heard from again.  By the 1800's Spain could no longer control colonial  Louisiana, and was forced to cede it back to France. In 1803, the US purchased Louisiana from Napoleon's France, thus doubling the size of the United States.
