  • Coin History: This coin is partially dated (XX)52; and is Crown-marked "F" on the Shield, also double struck on the Cross side. In 1652 the Potosi mint moved to the Pillar & Wave design, this would have been the last year for a "Cross and Shield" design at the mint. The shield type coin was in the process of being replaced by the new design of Pillar and Wave, indicating Shield types are extremely rare as they were the last produced of its kind.  Crown Mark ".F." (no upper dots) Crown Mark Type "P," rare, 200+ in existence.
