History: Antiochos VI Dionysos (ca. 148–142/1 BC) was a child king of the Hellenistic Seleucid Empire, placed on the throne by the general Diodotus Tryphon in opposition to Demetrius II. His coinage is highly celebrated by numismatists for its dynamic, artistic designs and prominent association with the god Dionysos. Dionysus is the Ancient Greek god of wine, winemaking, orchards, fertility, ritual madness, and theater.  Known to the Romans as Bacchus, he is famous for liberating followers from inhibitions and fear through ecstatic dance and music. He is often called the "twice-born" god.
