History: These historic coins are known to Collectors as “cobs” and the abbreviation of the Spanish term for “Cabo De Berra” meaning cut from the end of the bar. Minted in five denominations in silver, the largest was the eight Reales, famous in the colonies and among pirates as a "piece of eight." The other denominations were four Reales, two Reales, one Reales and half Reales.
This coin is a certified member of the “Beachcomber Series” by Shipwreck Treasures of the Keys. It has been numismatically certified as authentic to its period. These coins may be a land find coin from a private collection, discovered on a beach near a wreck site, legally recovered by a salvager but now with lost documentation.
