History: This gold ring was recovered from the wreck of the 1715 Spanish Plate Fleet. It was likely worn, or intended to be worn, by royalty or a member of the clergy, as the color purple was reserved for nobility and high clergy.
Provenance: From the Captain Michael C. Maguire Collection, some of which appeared on the Travel Channel in 2003-2005. Recovery near Corrigan's Site, 1715 Fleet.
